How big can a database get? My database is too large..2GB The underlying database engine is Microsoft Jet. The limit is set by MS Jet which is currently 2GB. If you are approaching that size and are receiving warning messages, there's a couple things you can do to get your database size under control. Make a backup of your database(s) before attempting these.1) Compact your database by clicking FILE > COMPACT DATABASEAs you work with your database, adding entries, deleting records, the database doesn't always reclaim space that was previously used. Performing a compact will reclaim that space and make your database smaller. If you've done the compact and the database is still too large, then.. The next step extracts images that may be embedded in your database. The higher the resolution of the image the more space it takes up. Extracting the images places the images outside of the database and links to them. The path of this extraction is based on how various options are configured. OPTIONS>DEFAULT FOLDERS>IMAGE FILES and TOOLS > AUTO-ORGANIZE IMAGE FILES. An example is below, click on the HELP for more info. 2) Extract images from your database by using TOOLS > DATABASE MAINTENANCE > EXTRACT IMAGESAfter you have extracted the images, perform a compact on your database to reclaim the space. As an example of a large database without any embedded image: Description ---------------------------- Album count: 41,511 Track count: 342,479 Artist/Person count: 65,855 Label count: 3,955 Has a size of 390,717,440 bytes (372.62 MB).
