Search for records with blank fields?

To my surprise & chagrin, i've just discovered that i have a large number of Artist/Persons for whom i left the Type field blank.
It would be helpful if i could search for records where that field is blank – then they'd be marked and it would be easy to work thru them as time allows.
Can y'all think of a way to do that search?

Maybe:

Choose "Lookup: Artist/person", click on the Type-column to sort and you'll find the empty ones easily

Yeah, that's my current approach. Probably what i'm stuck with.
