I know one thing, I won't be shelving books by colour of the spine - that is diabolical!
I do shelve most of my books (mostly reference), by height. This is because many of them are from a relatively small number of publishers, so makes sense to keep them together, as many in a series. I haven't decided on how to use BookCAT to help find my items on the shelves. Any ideas on how anyone does this?
A late aunt (a Canadian), had a lot of travel books and maps. These were kept in a large bookshelf and they were shelved according to the geographical layout of North America with Florida down on the bottom right and British Columbia on the top left - don't know if my uncle and aunt ever went to Alaska.
